I first played Federation at FlingCon last January, and while it didn't go onto my must-purchase list, when it went on clearance last month, I picked it up.
So many pieces! (This includes both the standard tokens, and the deluxe ones included in the Eagle-Gryphon Games edition.) But I just purchased a couple of the Holiday Gift Boxes, so lets put them to use!
The player tokens easily fit into 4 Originals.The components for 2 and 3 player games go into 1 Tile, and the resources at go into 4 Pods. The remainder of the non-planet tokens fit into a pair of Originals, with a bit of judicious separation.
The planet tokens were my greatest challenge, as I wanted separate containers for each planet, but there were so many Erudite tiles for Atalum. What got my past that was putting the Erudite tiles into the containers for their associated planets. The tiles for 6Moon, Arratoonie, Atalum, Neo go into Origanals boxes, along with their Medals (and the Legendary Spaceship token). 6Moon and Neo also need additional boxes, 1 Mini ans 1 Original, to fit their additional tokens.
The E81216 tokens use a Card Box. The Production Structures aren't quite square, so ensure that they're rotated properply to fit.
All of the bins exceptthe Mini and the Tile fit into one layer of the box.
With most of the bins being Originals, and nothing being taller than that, there's a level support for the game board in the box. Atop that go the rule book, the Mini and the Tile, and the player aids.
The player boards go atop the player aids, and there's nothing above the box edge to cause lid lift, which is always one of my goals.
Adendum: When double checking my bin count, I found that the Mini may be stored upside down in the gap on the lower layer. That doesn't really change anything about the organization, though. I would love to hear about alternate bin selections, although being able to keep the bottom layer level, and storing the main board above it, is really my second priority, close behind minimizing lid lift.
